Meet the Jury
STEPHEN JOEL BROWN is a motion picture and television producer and executive. He has spent the thrust of his career in the Media Industry as a senior executive and board member of an internationally based and publicly owned motion picture finance, distribution, and marketing/licensing company and as a producer of motion pictures for one of Hollywood’s leading production companies.
Currently, Stephen is a Producer and Executive for Darren Star Productions on the recently released hit Netflix series Emily In Paris created by Mr. Star and starring Lily Collins. The show has been picked up for a second season which will begin filming in Paris later this year.
Previously, Stephen served as President of Production for Kopelson Entertainment, one of Hollywood’s leading production companies. Stephen oversaw the productions of such seminal movies as Se7en, the Academy Award-nominated, The Fugitive, A Perfect Murder, Devil’s Advocate, Outbreak, as well as many others. The motion pictures created during his nearly 12-year tenure with Kopelson have garnered over $2 billion in receipts to date.
Stephen also served as President and CEO of USA-Intertainment Inc., and as Deputy Chairman and a member of the Executive Board of its publicly held Munich, Germany parent Company, Intertainment AG, where he was responsible for the co-financing of several motion pictures with Warner Bros., Twentieth Century Fox, and Paramount Studios.
More recently, Stephen produced The Ottoman Lieutenant starring Josh Hartnett, Sir Ben Kingsley, Michiel Huisman and Hera Hilmar. Released theatrically in the U.S. by Paladin and internationally by Universal Pictures, the movie was financed by Y Production, a film finance company based in Turkey where Stephen served as its Chief Executive Officer and oversaw the Company’s U.S. operations.
A Los Angeles, California native, Stephen graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in economics and history from the University of California, Los Angeles. He currently maintains residences in New York and Los Angeles, and for many years lived between Rome, Italy and Los Angeles.
